Ugandan kickboxing fans left Speke Resort, Munyonyo disappointed after Moses Golola was outclassed by visiting American Richard Abraham on Saturday.
The motor-mouthed Ugandan fighter had promised Abraham a hiding in the build-up to the fight but found himself on the receiving end from start to finish of the five-round bout. All the three judges on the night called the fight in favour of the American 50-45, 49-47, 50-45 as he was crowned the inter-continental champion.
“I came here to fight and was sure there was always going to be one winner,” Abraham said after the fight staged in Munyonyo Gardens.
Vocal before the first bell, the partisan crowd went silent as the American unleashed a barrage of combinations with the Ugandan unable to match him.
Despite the loss, Golola had the courage to ask for the microphone and send a message to his distraught fans. “There is no retreat no surrender,” Golola said. “The belt is gone but Golola is still around. I fought like a man.”
“You can win Golola Moses but you can never defeat Golola Moses. There is no retreat no surrender” He added
