We shall miss Aronda Nyakairima (Daily Monitor (Uganda))

Death has struck again, taking someone who touched the lives of almost all Ugandans in one way or another. We painfully mourn a brave man. A Ugandan who dedicated his entire life to serving his nation in the military profession, a general who transformed a ministry which Ugandans had lost hope in, especially in the immigration department, to a ministry that gave us hope both in confirming Ugandans as citizens and making acquisition of passports easier. We shall truly miss you Aronda Nyakairima.
Whenever Aronda visited Masaka, his first stop was the Resident District Commissioner’s office. As regional leaders in greater Masaka, he would encourage us to promote the East African anthem and to embrace the spirit of the East African Community.
His dedication to pacifying the African continent depicted him as a true son of the East African community. Our mother land Uganda will miss one of her greatest sons, who sacrificed the comfort of his home to go to the bush to liberate Uganda, a mission he proudly achieved.
He will be remembered because of his great contribution to the peace Uganda is enjoying now. A gallant son who actively participated in flashing out rebel forces in Uganda and not forgetting his successful battles against terrorists.
After several attempts by his predecessors, he successfully delivered the National Identity Card project. I call upon Ugandans to firmly hold their National Identity cards and pay great to Nyakairima.
We are proud of him. He respected RDCs and knew how relevant they are to this country. His respect for RDCs earned him love from the RDC fraternity.
Afande till we meet again, may the good Lord God our Father in heaven rest your soul in eternal peace.
