Uneb explains pass slips delay

Kampala- The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has clarified its failure to issue pass slips while releasing the Uganda Certificate of Education results on Tuesday

In the past five years Uneb has been releasing pass slips jointly with results.

Uneb secretary general Mathew Bukenya in a phone interview attributed the delay to the technical faults the board has previously faced with its computers and scanners.

Mr Bukenya also noted that this time they resolved to have the documents printed abroad to control the forgery that has been exhibited in the previous years.

“You know when we print from here, after the contractors handling over the printed copies, they go ahead to print extras, which they later distribute,” Mr Bukenya added.

In two weeksAsked when the public should expect the pass slips, Mr Bukenya revealed that the documents would be out in two weeks’ time.

“We acknowledge the urgency of the matter since some schools ask for original pass slips before admitting children, so we are addressing the matter promptly,” Mr Bukenya said.
