UGANDAN GOVT URGED TO JAIL LION KILLERS FOR LIFE

KAMPALA-- Certain quarter from Uganda's tourism industry have called on the government to jail for life the culprits who poisoned 11 lions in the Queen Elizabeth National Park to serve as a deterrence.

The visibly furious industry officials asked the government to take the four suspects to Luzira Maximum Prison and throw the keys to their cells in the deepest part of Lake Victoria.

Speaking to the media at AUTO headquarters here Wednesday, she added: That poisoning has not only affected the dead lions, but the vultures which feasted on the carcasses, the hyenas and the entire eco-system."

The Rose Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA) vice-president, Herbert Byaruhanga, said the saboteurs were crippling their effort to grow the tourism sector.

Uganda was a must-visit destination on the African continent, but it was overtaken following the bad times we went through politically, Byaruhanga said. The culprits are practically sabotaging the economy by massacring the lions. What happened to the drones the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) promised to deploy.
