UBL launches Shs1 billion water project

KIBUKU. Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) in conjunction with Water Aid Uganda (WAU)has launched a Shs1 billion water and sanitation project in Kibuku District.
While launching the three-year project at Bulangira Sub-county headquarters last Friday, the group corporate relations director, Ms Julie Adell-Owino, said the project is part of their corporate social responsibility to support areas with shortage of clean water.
“Our community focus is shortage of water. Without easy access to clean water, physical and economic development is severely affected. That is why we prioritised this area,” Ms Owino said.
She said UBL would invest more than Shs600m while WAU will inject Shs400m to build a water supply system, pit-latrines and a bathroom at Bulangira Health Centre III.
The WAU head of programme Jacinta Nangabo said the first phase will start this year with a feasibility study and other start-up activities.
