Tunisia-Switzerland seek to strengthen air transport between two countries

Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) Brahim Bouderbala, had a meeting on Friday at the Bardo Palace with Swiss Ambassador to Tunisia Josef Philipp Renggli, in the presence of Assessor to the President in charge of External Relations Tunisians abroad and Migration Ezzedine Teyeb.

The Swiss ambassador underlined "Switzerland's willingness to boost cooperation with Tunisia and its determination to bring further support to the country in various fields, namely in economy, governance and democratic transition,» reads a statement of the parliament.

The ambassador also expressed Switzerland's willingness to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, stressing the importance of consolidating air transport between the two countries.

Tunisia's proximity to the European space is likely to increase investment in the country as well as multiply cooperation and partnership programmes, he pointed out, recalling the large number of Swiss institutions established in Tunisia.

He added that "Tunisia is the 4th industrial force in Africa and has specialized skills."

The ARP Speaker reiterated "the privileged historical relations between the two countries since the independence days," welcoming the ongoing support provided by Switzerland to Tunisia in all domains.

Bouderbela also put emphasis on parliamentary relations and of doing everything possible to develop them "in so far as parliamentary diplomacy contributes to strengthening cooperation and bringing people together", he said.

The ARP speaker also underlined Tunisia's respect for rights and freedoms and the importance it given to civil society organisations in the country.
