Tunisia is taking part, as a guest of honour, in the 21st edition of the international oil fair "EXPOLIVA 2023" held May 10-13 in Jaen, Spain. EXPOLIVA 2023 is considered one of the largest global fairs dedicated to the promotion of the olive sector and the various industries related to the Olive Tree. This participation is led by the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA), the National Oil Office (ONH) and the Technical Centre for Packaging and Packing (PACKTEC). Tasting sessions of Tunisian olive oils that have won gold medals in various national and international competitions were organised at the Tunisian pavilion. The Tunisian participation in this fair is a "privileged opportunity for networking and meetings between Tunisian businessmen and their foreign counterparts in quest of new partnership and investment opportunities,» said APIA. The goal is to "foster the upmarket positioning of Tunisian products in the global value chains.» The Tunisian olive oil had won a record number of international distinctions during the last two years, by winning 300 medals in 2022 and 214 medals in 2021, thus integrating the world top 10 for the first time. In 2023, Tunisia succeeded in consolidating its position in several markets, notably in the packaged olive oil field. Indeed, the Tunisian packaged olive oil has distinguished itself, by winning 10 new medals including 6 in gold at the JOOP International Olive Oil Competition held on April 11, 2023, in Japan, and 9 medals at the New York International Olive Oil Competition NYIOOC 2023 (end of March 2023).
