With two catwalk queens in the house, plus many of the big shots in the fashion industry, Stacie Aamito’s victory dinner at the Kampala Serena Hotel, was not short of anything.

Being a fashion event, many of the guests went all out to stand out, with their amazing outfit choices, especially the ladies. Even though the night was meant to be a celebration for the newly crowned Africa’s Next Top model Aamito’s victory, Oluchi, who happens to be the brain child of the Africa Magic reality show where Aamito emerged victor, enjoyed her few hours of unlimited attention especially from the press, before Aamito’s arrival a while later. The press could not get enough of her, and cameras constantly clicked away. With her 6’ 1” inch frame coupled with her stylish white sheer detailed dress, Oluchi really stood out of the crowd.

With some of Uganda’s top designers gracing the event, the fashion show did not fall short of expectations when it came to the runway showcases. The 10 pieces showcased, by Gloria Wavamuno, Stella Atal, Martha Jabo,Kwesh, and Santa Anzo, were each uniqur and it wasn’t hard to miss how observant Oluchi was of each of the pieces on the runway.

A while later, the lady of the evening Stacie Aamito, arrived in style, with the lights going dim. The catwalk model then made her entrance clad in a lady crane off shoulder dress that was accessorised with beautiful multi-coloured beads.

The epitome of the evening was a hand-painting, made by Jovan Kiggundu, of both Aamito, and Oluchi’s faces spread across it. The painting was auctioned off, to raise funds for Aamito’s charity organisation that she hopes to set up soon. The focus of the organisation will be women with fistula related-illnesses in her home town of Kitgum. The highlight of the auction was Oluchi’s response to Aamito, when the latter suggested the auction be done in dollars. Oluchi cheekily responded by saying that since they were in Uganda, they needed to keep it Ugandan, much to the applause of the audience.

The several bidders included the Ministry of Tourism, Oluchi and Verve Interswitch, which won the bid at Shs2m. Verve Interswitch is a Nigerian electronic transaction switching and payment processing company.

Aamito will soon relocate to New York to start her one year modelling contract with DNA modelling agency.
