Statement on Kitubulu drowning

The territorial police in Entebbe is actively investigating circumstances under which one of the revellers at a beach in Kitubulu, drowned .

The facts gathered so far indicate that, Douglas Kaweesi, a 28-year-old, resident of Kazinga Abaita ababiri, asked his 10 year-old nephew, to escort him to the lake shores for swimming.

Unfortunately, he was overpowered by the strong waves and drowned. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. His nephew returned home after a long wait and informed his father, identified as Martin.

A serious search was conducted the following day at kitubulu, with the help of the local fishermen and the body of the victim retrieved.

The matter is now being investigated to establish the culprits behind the opening of the beach, since it is a restricted area under the Ministry of Health guidelines on COVID-19. This includes the area territorial commanders who happen to have exhibited unprofessional behavior.

The public should know that all beaches are still restricted and we calls for strict adherence .
