Ssentamu Chan act lands him Uspa accolade


KAMPALA: Uganda Cranes striker Yunus Ssentamu was yesterday voted the Nile special – Uganda Sports Press Association (Uspa) personality of January at the journalists’ meeting at Lugogo.

The upcoming star beat Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC), who won the Mapinduzi Cup, and chess player Ivy Amoko for winning the Rwabushenyi Chess memorial tournament, to the accolade by 35 votes.

Ssentamu was voted for his excellent performance as he stood out in the Cranes Chan team having scored three vital goals in the group stages.

He scored a goal in each half to silence the Burkina Faso team as Cranes won 2-1 in their opening game at the tournament.

His third goal was against Morocco as Cranes were eliminated ffom the tournament.
