SOME KENYAN MPS WANT GOVT TO FOLLOW EXAMPLE OF UGANDA AND BAN HOMOSEXUALITY

NAIROBI, March 5 — Hot on the heels of the move by Uganda to ban homosexuality, now some Members of Parliament in Kenya want the government to follow Kampala’s example and also ban homosexuality.

The Member of Parliament for Kasarani, John Njoroge, said here Tuesday that as a God-fearing nation, Kenyans should note that God never envisioned a situation where people of the same sex would come together and even unite in marriage.

His sentiments came at a time when the Cabinet Secretary (Minister) for Health, James Macharia, has called for a sober debate on the issue, warning that any attempts to try and stigmatize the gay community would reverse the gains made by the country in fighting the killer AIDS scourge.

Macharia noted that the gay community formed a key part of the country’s population and could not be ignored.
