SNC Bobo 2023: Living human treasures in the spotlight

one of the major innovations of the 20th edition of National Culture Week (SNC) is the participation of living human treasures (THV).

An iconographic exhibition highlights them at the Maison de la Culture Mgr Anselme Titianma Sanon.

They are recognized for their know-how, their knowledge and their contribution to the preservation of traditional Burkinabè culture.

They are the living human treasures of Burkina Faso. They are honored during this edition of National Culture Week (SNC).

The exhibit featured photographic portraits of several Living Human Treasures (LHTs), along with short biographies describing their work and contribution to Burkinabè culture.

These include, among others, master Titenga Frédéric Pacéde born in 1943 in Manéga in the province of Oubritenga who has distinguished himself in bendrology or the science of the language of the drum.

There is also Gorgo Léontine Ado born around 1931 in Kando in the province of Namentenga who became famous in traditional music.

As well as Konomba Traoré born around 1947 in Samogohiri in the province of Kénédougou who, for his part, distinguished himself in the manufacture of the balafon.

Seventeen in number, they were all proclaimed Living Human Treasures on December 22, 2015.

According to the person in charge of the iconographic exhibition, Kalssoro Kéïta, this exhibition aims to make known the living human treasures of Burkina Faso.

"This is in line with the missions of the department in charge of heritage to promote and safeguard the trades of living human treasures", he said.

According to him, throughout the SNC, visitors will discover the work of these exceptional people and their contribution to the preservation of traditional Burkinabè culture.
