The National Assembly will host the 34th executive committee meeting of the Parliamentary Union of Islamic Countries (PUIC) to be inaugurated here on today.
Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi will inaugurate the two-day meeting.
Members of the executive committee, who are members of the Parliament from Pakistan, Algeria, Lebanon, Kingdom of Morocco, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Chad, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Turkey, Iraq and Iran will attended the meeting.
The meeting will discuss and finalise the agenda for the 11th PUIC conference to be held in Iraqi capital Baghdad in 2016.
The meeting will also deliberate upon the draft charter of PUIC on combating terrorism and extremism and agenda for specialised PUIC standing committees on political and foreign affairs, environment, human rights, women and family affairs, culture, legal affairs and dialogue of civilizations and religions. The delegates will also propose ways and means to strengthen the inter-parliamentary relationship among the Islamic countries and the political, economic and development challenges faced by the Islamic world. The Executive Committee meeting will conclude with adoption of its report and Islamabad Declaration.
