The issue of bread shortage in some governorates, such as Kairouan and Siliana was at the centre of the meeting held Saturday at Carthage Palace between President Kaïs Saïed and Minister of Trade and Export Development, Kalthoum Ben Rejeb Guezzah. "This situation is due to attempts by some to exasperate the situation and invent crises," said Saïed, reads a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic. "The shortage of bread in one governorate is inadmissible, while it is available in other neighbouring regions," he said. The meeting also focused on the absence or shortage of other products in some regions, such as coffee and sugar, due to the monopoly, speculation and control of distribution channels by some lobbies that "abuse the people", the same source added. The President called on all state institutions to assume their responsibilities to put an end to this situation and these practices.
