Pallisa MP injured in accident

Kampala: The Pallisa Woman MP, Ms Judith Mary Amoit, sustained injuries in an accident at the weekend after the car she was travelling in overturned.

The accident occurred at Kakinzi village on Bukomero Kyankwazi road in Kiboga District while she was heading to Kyankwazi for the NRM retreat. Her husband was driving the car.

Police came to the scene at 5pm shortly after the accident, calling an ambulance to the legislators rescue.

The deputy police spokesperson, Mr Patrick Onyango, said the couple was taken to Kampala for treatment.

The cause of the accident remains unknown although witnesses said the driver was speeding and later lost control of the car.

The vehicle has been taken to Kiboga Police Station pending supervision to ascertain the real cause of the accident. “We are still carrying out investigations into the cause of the accident. So far no one has been charged with anything,” Mr Onyango said.
