Oulanyah calls for protection of peace and freedom

The Deputy speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah has urged Ugandans to rise up and defend the peace, freedom and development of the country.

Oulanyah said that the citizens should become 'soldiers' in guarding the prosperity of this country by flashing out negative elements against development.

You have a responsibility if somebody is being negative and pushing negative energy towards development process of this country; tell him to stop, he said.

The Deputy Speaker made these remarks while officiating at the opening of the Auditor General's regional offices in Hoima district on Friday, 05 October 2018.

Oulanyah commendedthe Auditor general for the opening the offices that will serve 10 districts in the region. He said that such work should inspire and create hope in people.

As we despair about how public resources are mismanaged in this country, there is hope that something can still happen in the right way, he said.

He said that the success of Parliament also depended on the success of the Auditor General's office.

This office exists because Parliament exists and helps Parliament in handling public accountability issues, he said.

The Auditor General,John Muwanga said that the regional office is meant to reduce the distances between audit regions.

Muwanga added that the regional office will serve Hoima, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Kiryandongo, Masindi, Kibaale, Kabaale, Kakumiiro and Buliisa.

The significance of this office is that, now the services have been brought closer to enhance efficient delivery of the audit mandate in this region, he said.
