Nametenga: An association raises awareness about violence against children

The Pogsada support and awakening association (ADEP) funded by the NGO Plan International organized an awareness caravan against child marriage and gender-based violence from 3 and 4 April 2023 in Boulsa.

Radio broadcasts, meetings with the partners and beneficiaries of the “choose when and with whom to marry” CHAM project were the flagship activities of the caravan.

Emile Segda Regional correspondent of Editions Sidwaya, head of mission of the caravan, was delighted with the results achieved by the caravan.

4 people hosted an interactive radio program.

Their intervention focused on definitions of child marriage, causes, consequences, solutions and related punitive measures.

31 people called on the phone to take part in the caravan-themed contest. For the occasion, 8 winners received prizes.

Zongo Chantal hairdresser and Pouya Abdou-Hafiz chicken breeder, beneficiaries of the project, respectively received the caravaneers within their respective activities.

According to the provincial director of Solidarity, humanitarian action, national reconciliation, gender and family, Zakaria Ouédraogo, the support of the “CHAM” project in the province has greatly contributed to the reduction of violence against children especially girls.

He acknowledged that the security context has contributed enormously to the deterioration of the situation of children.

Mr. Ouédraogo also hoped that the “CHAM” project, which has come to an end, be renewed to allow them to take into account new cases such as children separated from their parents and early marriages
