More than 7 billion FCFA have been mobilized as of March 31, 2023 by the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP), learned the AIB

The government announced on Monday that nearly 7 billion FCFA had been mobilized as of March 31, 2023, through the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP), as part of the reconquest of the national territory.

According to the Minister of Economy, Finance and Prospective, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo, the government was able to collect on March 31, 2023, the sum of nearly 7 billion FCFA through the Patriotic Support Fund ( FSP) in the context of the fight against terrorism in Burkina Faso.

For him, the fundraising operation began at the end of February 2023 and the results are encouraging with nearly 7 billion FCFA, including more than 3 billion FCFA for the Brasserie du Burkina (Brakina).

Mr. Nacanabo spoke on Monday in Ouagadougou, during the first inaugural session of the Orientation Council of the Patriotic Support Fund (FSP) chaired by the Prime Minister, Me Apollinaire Joachim Kyelèm de Tambèla.

The Minister explained that the contribution of the Burkinabè reassures the authorities that they have understood the need to take charge of their own security.

"This is precisely the opportunity to salute all those who have mobilized, whether it be the agents of the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Foresight, agents of other ministries but above all the consumers and also the workers who agreed to give part of their salary to deal with this situation,” he added.

For Aboubakar Nacanabo, during the exchanges, it will be a question of giving the main orientations of the FSP, the allocation of resources and the care of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and internally displaced persons.

The first head of the department in charge of the Economy indicated that the management committee will operationalize the decisions taken during the meeting.

According to Mr. Nacanabo, two bodies are responsible for monitoring and transparent management of the fund, namely an Orientation Council led by the head of government Me Tambèla and a management committee.

For him, a first phase consisted in the collection of funds and the second is devoted to the use of resources for the benefit of the VDPs for their operationalization on the ground and the third phase is reserved for the control of funds.

"We really recognize each other's efforts and we say to everyone to always keep mobilizing so that we can achieve more victories on the ground," he continued.

Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo indicated in the next three months, the State needs 13 billion FCFA to support the VDPs in the context of the reconquest of the national territory.

According to him, the 7 billion FCFA will make it possible to cover part of the needs and the collection of funds will continue to meet future expenses.

As a reminder, on January 11, 2023, the Burkinabe Transition created the FSP in order to allow Burkinabè to participate in the war effort to regain the integrity of the national territory.
