Miss Earth Uganda Finale Set for September 5 (allAfrica.com)

September 5 has been set as the day of the grand finale for the first edition of Miss Earth Uganda (MEU) at Imperial Royale hotel in Kampala.

MEU is a beauty pageant aimed at empowering young ladies with knowledge on how to protect the environment. According to the pageant organizers, 20 beauties have been selected from different parts of the country and are in boot camp.

The organizers working with National Forest Authority (NFA) want inspirational beauties who understand and can preach the gospel of protecting the environment.

Andrew Kyamagero, the public relations officer of Miss Earth Uganda, said contestants were selected through auditions in 20 districts since February.

“The young ladies are going to be somewhere in Kampala but we cannot disclose because we don’t want then to be disturbed by relatives and friends.”

However, Kyamagero said the contestants will also have a talent and costume day on August 30, at Carnivore pub in Kampala.

“The winner will receive a brand new car, an allowance, an apartment and will participate in all Miss Earth activities in Uganda. She will also represent Uganda in the Miss Earth 2015 finals to be held in Austria later this year,’ he said.
