Last Saturday evening, Simon Ssembuya aka Sipate, had all the boxes checked as he held the Gold Masquerade fashion show at Laftaz Lounge at Centenary park.
He had the Tapa Uganda drummers placed outside the lounge, drumming away, fully dressed in African wear. The noise from the drums even attracted those initially not planning to come for the show.
On the inside, there was a runway down the middle and the grass-thatched lounge had orange draping. He choose Laftaz comedian Daggy to be the MC and he kept the crowd smiling, taking on the designers and collectors.
It was Rwoz Collection, Gnaj Label, Fashion Accent, L.M.S Collection and Kim Swagger showingcasing. Truth is, these guys are still struggling when it comes to designing, but they are a notch up when it comes to fashion collection and coordination.
Mixing up a number of brands, combining colours, they thrilled the audience with the casual, urban, party, creative and bikini wear. Patrons gave newbie Jazmin a good reception as she performed during the music break. If she can hold up her good stage performance, then she will be able to shake the big fish in the industry.
The show went on until a few minutes past midnight when guests left, satisfied. Sembuya, on his part, left to start planning for the Halloween party on October 30, saying he has new twists up his sleeve for this one.
