Candidates vying for the Position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration), Makerere University on Monday 10th August 2020 made public presentations of what they will bring to the table should they be successfully elected. The ceremony held in Main Hall had the physical attendance restricted in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19 prevention. Proceedings were nevertheless broadcast live on ZOOM and participants who had registered prior to the session were able to participate.
Welcoming participants, the Chairperson Senate Search Committee for the position of DVCFA, Prof. Grace Bantebya Kyomuhendo shared that public presentations accord all stakeholders the opportunity to interface with their future leaders. “This is the last step in the search process after which the Committee will write a report and present to Senate.”
She introduced other members of the Search Committee present namely; Prof. JYT Mugisha – Principal College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS), Assoc. Prof. Gilbert Maiga – Dean School of Computing and Informatics Technology, Assoc. Prof. Sylvia Nannyonga-Tamusuza – Head Department of Performing Arts and Film and Assoc. Prof. Frank Norbert Mwiine – Dean School of Biosecurity, Biotechnical and Laboratory Sciences. Also introduced were Members of the Secretariat headed by the Academic Registrar – Mr. Alfred Masikye Namoah, assisted by the Deputy Registrar (Senate Division) – Mrs. Patience Rubabinda Mushengyezi.
Ms. Ritah Namisango – Principal Public Relations Officer moderated the session during which candidates made their presentations in the follow order;
- 1. Prof. Anthony Mugisha, School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources
- 2. Prof. William Bazeyo, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration)
- 3. Assoc. Prof. Allan Mulengani Katwalo, Dean, School of Business and Applied Technology (SOBAT), Clarke International University, Kampala Uganda.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor – Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) – Assoc. Prof. Umar Kakumba, Principals of Colleges, Members of Staff, Students, Members of the Press, the Public and hundreds of participants on ZOOM.
