Motor sport ace Ponsiano Lwakataka has been re-arrested by police and remanded again in Masaka central prisons over new charges of murder.
Mr. Lwakataka who is still on court bail over charges of assaulting a police constable in Rakai district, on Tuesday appeared before Masaka grade one magistrate, Mr Hood Matovu who read to him fresh murder charges.
Mr. Matovu said that Mr. Lwakataka was on Court’s warrant of arrest over murder charges in relation to killing of nine family members including Pastor Steven Mugambe at Kyebe trading centre near Kasensero landing site in Rakai district in January last 2013.
Others who were murdered were identified as Bena Nakivumbi, Jane Nakiwala, Max Nakirijja, Maria Namatovu, Christine Namuleme, Dan Kazibwe, Nowerina Nalinya and Andrew Ampiire who was the production officer of BAT Jinja.
Mr. Lwakataka was on 1st August granted bail by Kalisizo grade one magistrate, Suzan Awidi on charges of assaulting, threatening violence, obstruction of Mr. Mikidadi Kabiito a police constable attached to Sanje Police post on March 2, 2014 after he stopped them on their way from Kasensero landing site in Rakai district.
Mr. Lwakataka was sent on remand in Masaka central prisons and he will be brought back in court on October 10, over the murder charges.
