Let’s Go to Bobo Music Festival: “Through culture our people will emerge victorious from the terrorist hydra” (authority)

The regional director in charge of Culture of Hauts-Bassins, Siaka Sanou, said Wednesday in Bobo-Dioulasso, during the launch of the second edition of the Music Festival let's go to Bobo ( FEMABO), that through culture, Burkina Faso will emerge victorious from the terrorist hydra.

"Through culture, we can achieve great feats and through culture our people will emerge victorious from the terrorist hydra", declared the Regional Director in charge of Culture for the Hauts-Bassins, Siaka Sanou.

He was speaking on Wednesday in Bobo-Dioulasso, during the launch of the second edition of the Music Festival let's go to Bobo (FEMABO), placed under the theme: "Music, factor of resilience for a prosperous and inclusive Nation", which is held from April 26 to 30, 2023.

The regional director represented the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, patron of the second edition of FEMABO.

Mr. Sanou indicated that the missions of FEMABO are aligned with the sectoral policy in terms of culture.

“This is why I would like to convey my congratulations and my encouragement to the organizing committee which spared no effort to hold this 2nd edition”, he specified.

For the sponsor of the ceremony, Master Yacouba Dembélé, FEMABO will contribute to promoting our culture and to increasing more framework for the promotion of our artists.

“FEMABO aims to be a framework for the visibility of our artists,” he added.

For him, music is a channel for expressing our emotions, be they happy or sad, and occupies a special place in our traditions and our cultures.

"In view of the difficult context that our country is going through and in the face of the resilience of our people, we reaffirm our solidarity with the people, the combat forces and the authorities", he continued.

Maître Dembélé appealed to economic operators and patrons to support culture.

It reaffirmed its commitment to support initiatives aimed at promoting artists.

For his part the promoter of FEMABO Siaka Coulibaly said His Majesty Chako Lombardy indicated that the idea of the festival has been matured for a few years and it aims to create a framework of expression for Burkinabe artists.

"In these times when our country is in the grip of terrorist attacks, culture remains a weapon, a lever on which we must resort for the consolidation of peace", recalled Siaka Coulibaly.

He thanked those who accompanied him in the organization of this festival.

The opening ceremony was marked by parades of the Dioula, Peul and Bobo/Bwaba ethnic groups.

Several activities will be on the menu of this second edition of FEMABO such as the trade fair, a caravan of sponsors and a children's village.

During the 5 days that FEMABO will last, artists will perform in turn each evening on the festival site, at the Gana So space in the Belle Ville district of Bobo-Dioulasso.
