LC3 chief interdicted over Shs1.5m

Soroti. The Soroti Chief Administrative Officer, Mr John Nyakahuma, has interdicted the LC3 chairperson of Kamuda over alleged misappropriation of money.
According to a letter written by Mr Nyakahuma, to sub-county councillors, Mr Herbert Obale is accused of failing to account for Shs1.5 million he withdrew from the sub-county account purportedly for the send-off of late Michael Oyuru, his predecessor, who died in a motor accident last month.
Mr Obale is also accused of misappropriating Shs5.2m meant for maintenance of sub-county roads in the financial year 20132014.

Unsatisfactory explanation
Mr Nyakahuma said when he summoned Mr Obale over the allegations, his defence was unsatisfactory.
Sub-county councillors claim the money for burial expenses was never delivered.
The CAO said the chief will stand interdicted for six months and will be receiving half salary.
When contacted, Mr Obale said the allegations brought against him by the Kamuda councillors are false.
He said there have been attempts to throw him out of office on tribal grounds for a long time.
