King Salman Club Cup – 2nd qualifying round: US Monastir defeat Bahrain’s Al Muharreq 2-0

Union Sportive Monastirienne boosted their chances of qualifying for the final stage of the King Salman Club Cup, after defeating Bahrain's Al Muharreq 2-0 at a first leg game of the second qualifying round played in the Mustapha Ben Jannet stadium in Monastir on Sunday. Goalkeeper Bechir Ben Said's team opened the scoring in the 53rd minute through Abdelkader Boutiche, who scored from the penalty spot, before Boubacar Traore doubled the lead in the 75th minute. The return leg will be played in Manama on May 31. The qualifying team will join Group C alongside, Saudi Al-Nassr and Al Shabab and Egypt's Zamalek. Tunisia will also be represented in the King Salman Cup by CS Sfaxien, who will play the first leg of their second qualifying round tie against Sudan's Al Hilal of Sudan away on May 31 (second leg in Sfax on 7 June), and Esperance Sportive de Tunis, who are exempted from the preliminary round.
