The Islamic University in Uganda [IUIU] is planning an entrepreneurial university, to create a new breed of student innovators and thinkers.
According to IUIU Rector Ahmed K. Sengendo, the plan is part of the institution’s strategic agenda to create an environment where students can discover, develop and apply their entrepreneurship skills.
The announcement came during a heated debate during a conference on financing higher education at IUIU recently. Experts from 10 universities attended.
They argued that the enterprise centre at any university would provide support to local businesses and entrepreneurs and house a purpose-built early stage incubator for the new start-up business.
