Interview: “The war has not yet begun: We are first at the introduction, intense phases will follow”, captain Ibrahim Traoré

The Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré said Thursday during a major interview granted to national television that the war against terrorist groups is in its introductory phase and that the intensive phases will see the days to come.

“I see that there has been a lot of controversy around the question. I can say today that we are at the introduction. We introduced war,” said the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

According to him, for now, war has been introduced with operations that you can see here and there. “More intense phases will come as operational and especially logistical capacities increase,” he continued.

On the air strikes carried out by the Burkinabè army against terrorist positions, the Head of State indicated that the war is not only aerial.

“There are several phases that I cannot describe to you here. It's a whole plan that's there. There is an important phase. For each stage, you will feel the changes. Today, of course, there are a lot of airstrikes, but on the ground, the troops are progressing. As you can see, very often they are on the offensive towards the enemy. It's not only aerial, but we need this phase for intelligence and support,” he explained.

The President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, gave an interview to Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (RTB) and Canal 3, broadcast on Thursday, May 4, 2023 on national television antennas.

He addressed several subjects, including the security situation, the general mobilization and the warning, the inclinations of destabilization of the current power, the Volunteers for the defense of the fatherland, human rights.
