The President of the Cascades Regional Special Delegation (PDS), Colonel Jean Charles Somé, chaired on Friday, May 12, 2023, in Bobo-Dioulasso, a workshop of the Project for the promotion of kinship between the populations of the Cascades, Hauts-Bassins and South-West regions, in order to identify the contours of joking kinship.
The Cascades, Hauts-Bassins and Sud-Ouest regions want to formalize the joking kinship ties that exist between their peoples.
It is in this sense that a project was launched with the key, a framing workshop organized this Friday, May 12, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso.
For Colonel Jean Charles Somé, it was more precisely a question of amending a project which was the subject of exchanges on March 14 in Banfora by technicians from the 3 regions.
"This, in order to identify the contours of joking kinship but also to organize the guarantors of the tradition to better take into account this value in the settlement of conflicts", he continued.
According to him, it was also a question of seeing the ways and means to mobilize the resources necessary for the implementation of the project.
The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) regional Cascades, indicated that well used, joking relationships can resolve even the deepest crises.
He regretted that this precious intangible cultural heritage was being lost.
“She is little known to the new generation, and even by some old ones,” he portrayed.
The technical adviser to the Hauts-Bassins Regional Special Delegation, Lamine Soulama, is the focal point of the project in the Hauts-Bassins.
Mr. Soulama specified that the guarantors of the tradition that are the chiefs of land and the customary chiefs, will be organized in each village around the communities which live there.
“At the end, joking kinship committees will be set up, and the communities in question will be invited to use joking kinship in settling various disputes,” he added.
The focal point of the project in the Hauts-Bassins recalled that on the genesis of the project, the idea was born from the Cascades region in November 2022.
“The Governor of the Cascades wrote to his colleagues in the other two regions and technicians met afterwards to set up the project,” he explained.
As for the project budget, it is between 400 and 500 million CFA francs and will be financed by the various communities from the commune to the regional councils, and other partners such as ministries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
