Kampala. German technical expert Gunter Lange is pleased with efforts by the athletics and volleyball domestic governing bodies in their bid to improve their respective disciplines starting at grassroots level.
Lange, who is an IAAF’s Senior Manager, is currently conducting activator courses at the Primary Schools National Ball Games in Mubende.
The course organized in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Sports is aimed at equipping primary school teachers with knowledge to pass on basic skills to children in athletics, volleyball and football.
“There is a lot of headway being made,” acknowledged Lange after Sunday’s official opening ceremony honoured by Germany Deputy Head of Mission to Uganda Petra Kochendalrfer.
“I will be positive and focus on the federations that have embraced the program but I am disappointed with the ones that have not,” he added.
Domestic football governing authority Fufa have no representation at the championship.
