Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Nabil Ammar met with President of the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE) Farouk Bouasker, on Wednesday, to discuss the parliamentary by-elections and ways to make them a success. Bouasker emphasised the level of cooperation and coordination established between the two sides to ensure the best conditions for the participation of the Tunisian community abroad in these elections. The legislative by-elections abroad are set within three months of declaring the vacancies in seven electoral districts abroad. These are France 1, Germany, other European countries, Arab countries, Africa, Asia and Australia and the two Americas. The FM underscored, on his part, the readiness of his department's services, at home and abroad, to support the work of the election commission and to make all needed material and logistical resources available. He also pledged to take all necessary measures to hold the legislative by-elections abroad and to bring them to a successful end, the ISIE said in a statement. It was agreed to hold, as soon as possible, a working session of the joint committee made up of both parties, to examine issues related to the electoral register abroad and awareness campaigns. The meeting was attended by members of the ISIE, as well members of the joint committee in charge of elections.
