First Lady roots for savings culture among citizens (Daily Monitor (Uganda))


Kampala.

First Lady and minister for Karamoja Affairs Janet Museveni has urged Ugandans to work untiringly and adopt a saving culture to improve their living standards.

“Ugandans should grip the saving discipline and work hard so as to develop their quality of life,” Ms Museveni said.

She made the remarks while addressing NRM supporters in Sabagabo zone, Makindye Division in Kampala, on Monday.

Ms Museveni also appealed to citizens to take advantage of government’s wealth creation programmes, especially the microfinance to enable them access start-up capital.

“Government has designed programmes that enable Ugandans to live sustainably, with proper use of these programmes through good planning, one can move from the poor state they may be in to a much better position,” Ms Museveni said.

Govt programme
The Operation Wealth Creation programme is aimed at “banishing” subsistence farming and poverty from Uganda under the supervision of military officers. According to Gen Salim Saleh, the programme covers the economy, health, education, infrastructure and investment, among others.
