The first ever meeting of business leaders from Uganda and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will be held in Kampala on May 29, according to Ambassador of the ROK to Uganda, Park Jong Dae.
A total of 150 South Korean business leaders will fly into the country from the ROK, accompanied by at least 70 members of the media who will highlight the event, which is being organized by the Embassy of the ROK in Uganda in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda.
The announcement of the forum came during a meeting at the Embassy with judges of the New Vision newspaper's flagship entrepreneurship award project, the Pakasa Youth Awards, here over the weekend.
The team of judges were presenting a report of their findings to the Embassy as one of the lead partners of the awards. The embassy is to sponsor the 10 winners on a trip to South Korea, one of the top entrepreneurial countries in the world.
Lead judge Maria Odido highlighted the increasing interest among young people to start-up businesses amidst the current economic challenges.
"Financial assistance is as a much a challenge to start ups as is for established businesses. What these young people need is motivation, exposure and tips on how it works," she said.
