Fada market fire: The condiments and thrift store compartments went up in smoke

The fire which broke out on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, in the central market of Fada N'Gourma, ravaged the condiments and second-hand clothes compartments.

On Tuesday May 2, 2023, around 10 p.m., part of the central market of Fada N'Gourma was in flames.

The causes of this fire are not known at the time of writing these lines.

Actors deplored the incident, including the president of the central market of Fada N'Gourma.

“It is deplorable because the ONEA fountains are not working. We would have circumscribed the extent of this fire. Unfortunately, we have no water. It took the determination of local residents and young people to put out the fire. It is by default of assistance that traders recorded this loss in this incident. If we had a fire brigade in Fada N'Gourma, this fire would not have affected more than one or two shops,” he said.

Trader Adissa Tandamba née Kiema agreed.

“It was to my surprise that my husband informed me that the market had caught fire. Arrival, on the scene, no one can approach in view of the magnitude of the fire. It is for lack of firefighters that we recorded these losses. This is the third time this market has caught fire. We do not understand the causes of these incidents,” she said.

Recall that a fire station is under construction in Fada N'Gourma.

The president of the Fada N'Gourma delegation, Jérôme K. Idani praised the determination and mobilization of young people and traders who helped to control the fire.

He also welcomed the mobilization of the Forces of Order and Security (FDS) around this incident and the companies that put water tanks to control the fire. The damage is enormous because it is the compartments of the various condiments and that of the thrift stores which have been reduced to ashes, affirmed the PDS.
