ETHIOPIA, UGANDA TO CONSOLIDATE PEACE IN REGION

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia and Uganda will continue their effort to ensure peace and security in the region, President Mulatu Teshome said.

Lauding the activities of Uganda's departing Ambassador Mull Katende during his stay in Ethiopia, the President stated that efforts will be made to further strengthen the relation between the two countries.

Noting that the two countries have common agendas, he stressed that they are cooperating in the fight against Al-Shabaab and to bring peace and security in Somalia.

Mulatu also pointed out that the countries should work together in infrastructure development to strength their relations, beyond ensuring peace and security in the region.

Katende said I have seen a lot of development in Ethiopia and I would like to commend the government for all they are doing.

Ethiopia has also done well in infrastructure development, he said, adding that the two countries need to interconnect by road and railway to bolster trade and investment.

Katende said Uganda and Ethiopia will continue to collaborate in realizing peace and security in Somalia and South Sudan.

He thanked the government and people of Ethiopia for their support during his tenure in Ethiopia.
