The Governor of the Central Plateau, Sy Assetou Traoré, said Tuesday in Ziniaré that she could not give a new date for the holding of Independence Day in the region, already postponed to the end of 2021 for security reasons.
“The reasons that prevailed for the postponement of December 11 (2021) still exist,” said the Governor of the Central Plateau, during a meeting on Tuesday in Ziniaré, with the Forces vives of the province of Oubritenga. .
She added that the postponement was justified by terrorist attacks.
“Many people are wondering when December 11 will be in Ziniaré. I will not be able to answer this question, ”admitted the Governor of the Central Plateau.
She maintained that the authorities are stepping up actions to fight against terrorist groups so that peace returns to the country.
“We would not want a 11-December at a minimum. We hope that at the end of this war, we can celebrate December 11 in Ziniaré and I am sure that it will be a celebration never seen before,” said Sy Assetou Traoré.
At the end of November 2021, young people pounded the pavement to demand the postponement of the December 11 festivities, a few days before the celebration, in view of the deterioration in security.
A few days later, the government announced the postponement of the celebration of the commemorative festivities of independence.
