COUNTRIES STRUGGLING WITH IAAF ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR WORLD X-COUNTRY C’SHIPS

Some countries are struggling to get to grips with the new online registration system introduced by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for the 2017 World Cross Country Championships to be held in Kampala on March 26, organizers here say.

The local organizers says that many countries were finding it difficult to adapt to the new format and as a result, only 52 countries had recently confirmed participation out of the more than 70 expected for the Championships.

“The number should grow by the time we get to the March 12 deadline for entries after more countries master the new system,” noted one of the organizers.

Accommodation arrangements have meanwhile been finalized for the more than 700 people expected in Uganda for the world meet.

Athletes will stay at the Imperial Royale and Africana hotels while IAAF officials will accommodated at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel and the Metropole Hotel will be the official media hotel.

Uganda will be the fourth African country to host the world meet.
