The defence group of those arrested in the so-called "plot against the State" case on Monday announced that following the press conference held by the group on May 8, the regional section of the Tunis Bar Association was notified of convening defence group coordinator Abdelaziz Essid for a hearing, at the request of the Minister of Justice.
The group calls, in a statement, on the bar association to shoulder its historical and principled role in the protection of its members. It considers that "this relentlessness is part of the multiplication of trials against lawyers who have defended political activists and opponents and constitutes a serious threat to the right of defence."
