L'Œil d'or 2023 - the Documentary Award of Cannes Film Festival- was awarded to Tunisian "Les filles d'Olfa" (Four Daughters). The jury, chaired by Kirsten Johnson, includes Ovidie, Sophie Faucher, Pedro Pimenta, Jean-Claude Raspiengeas. It awarded the top documentary prize to Kaouther Ben Hania's Les filles d'Olfa and Moroccan filmmaker Asmae El Moudir's The Mother of All Lies (La Mère de tous les mensonges). The jury " praises the courage and imagination of Kaouther Ben Hania and Asmae El Moudir who invent mechanisms renewing writing boldly to explore the world's chaos." L'Œil d'or was established by the Civil society of the Multimedia Author (French: Scam); it qualifies both winning films for Oscar consideration
