Burkina: The Chamber of Industry and Commerce wants the establishment of a single license office

The Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF), Mamady Sanon requested on Monday, the establishment of a single business license office in order to improve the working environment of private companies.

Mr. Sanon spoke on Monday in Ouagadougou, during the first ordinary session 2023 of the steering committee of the monitoring system for improving the business climate in Burkina Faso, chaired by the Prime Minister, Me Apollinaire Kyelèm de Tambèla.

He said the government says it is paying close attention to their concerns regarding the establishment of the single business license office to improve the business climate of the private sector.

Head of Government Kyelèm also requested regular support from Technical and Financial Partners (TFP) for the well-being of private sector actors in the country.

The Vice-President of the CCI-BF welcomed the fact that despite the difficult security and humanitarian context in Burkina Faso, the improvement of private companies and workers remains a concern for the government.

According to him, the achievements in 2022 were, among other things, the overall improvement of the business climate, land, legal and commercial problems and relations between the private sector and the State.

He clarified that in 2023, the authorities will work on the labor code to secure the workers.

For the Minister of Industrial Development, Trade, Handicrafts and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Serges Poda, the meeting consists of adopting the implementation of the previous recommendations held in 2022.

These include, among other things, according to him, the reforms undertaken on December 31, 2022 by the government, the examination of the reform project for 2023 for the benefit of the private sector.

Mr. Poda underlined that this State initiative aims to create a favorable and resilient framework in order to allow private actors to carry out their activities and contribute to the economic development of the country.

“Despite the difficult national and international context, reforms have been initiated to create an appropriate framework for the business climate in Burkina,” he continued.

Minister Poda said he was satisfied with the completion rate of 50% of the reforms out of the 82 undertaken in 2022 by the government.

Created in 2017, the steering committee is a system for monitoring the improvement of the business climate in Burkina Faso.
