The president of the university Joseph Ki Zerbo, Pr Jean François Silas Kobiané chaired Wednesday within the Temple of knowledge in Ouagadougou, the ceremony of the laying of the first stone of construction of a crèche for the benefit of student mothers and staff of his university.
According to the president of the university Joseph Ki Zerbo, Pr Jean François Silas Kobiané, the construction of this building will make it possible to improve the conditions of studies of the student mothers and to ensure a better protection of their children.
Professor Jean François Silas Kobiané estimated at 2,000 the number of student mothers out of a total of 20,000 students at Joseph Ki Zerbo University.
According to the technical director of the SATA Africa firm, the architect Jean Sawadogo, this involves the construction of a 40-place crèche within 3 months, estimated at 68 million CFA francs for the first phase.
The architect Sawadogo also indicated that the crèche is being built with an extension of up to 160 places with an overall construction cost of 500 million CFA francs.
"At the level of the crèche, we have rooms for the monitors, a rest room, a playroom, toilets and an area for the preparation of baby bottles and others" noted Jean Sawadogo.
He added that for the extension, there are plans for a restaurant, classrooms for preschool, meeting rooms, offices and play areas.
However, given the budgetary constraints, Mr. Sawadogo indicated that the construction of the extension of the nursery will be done later.
