Burkina Faso in solidarity with Mali after serious UN accusations

Burkina Faso on Monday expressed its solidarity with Mali, whose authorities and "foreigners" are accused by the UN of having executed nearly 500 civilians in March 2022.

For Ouagadougou, this is a variable-geometry approach to human rights, because “the international community” observes a suspicious complacency in the face of the exactions of terrorists against martyred populations; but is moved when these thirsty for blood, wealth and power, are neutralized by freedom fighters.

"The Government of Burkina Faso is witness to the fierce struggle waged by the Transitional Government and the sovereign people of Mali against armed terrorist groups whose barbarity and perfidy are matched only by their morbid desire to sow chaos. by the massacre, the rape and the pillage of peaceful populations.

To stem the enterprise of terror and violence of these men without faith or law, the Malian Armed Forces successfully carried out a large-scale military operation in the locality of Moura in March 2022 which made it possible to inflict a crushing defeat on these disciples of the apocalypse by neutralizing dozens of terrorists.

The Government of Burkina Faso is surprised by the content of the "Report on the events in Moura from March 27 to 31, 2022 of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights made public on May 12, 2023 and expresses its incomprehension as to the conclusions of said report.

It expresses its solidarity with the Government and the brotherly people of Mali as well as with all the fighting Forces engaged in the fight against the forces of evil and unjustly taken to task for alleged allegations of violation of Human Rights.

The Government of Burkina Faso has never ceased to repeat that the despicable violence and the negation of all humanity are those perpetrated against the innocent people of the Sahel by terrorist hordes thirsty for blood, wealth and power, whose neutralization is so moving. the international community ".

He wonders about this approach to Human Rights with variable geometry which observes a suspicious complacency in the face of the abuses of these same terrorist groups and clears the community of nations of its duty of solidarity vis-à-vis the peoples of the Sahel, abused and martyred in the land of their ancestors when they simply aspire to live free, dignified and in peace.

Is it still useful to recall that at the origins of terrorism in the Sahel, there is mainly the destabilization of Libya carried out in 2011 with complete impunity and in defiance of international law with all the consequences that we know in terms of volatility of the security situation throughout the Sahelo-Saharan strip.

The duty of solidarity in question today is not alms but a question of responsibility in the atrocious suffering suffered by the Peoples of the Sahel and the descent into hell inflicted on millions of people who once lived in peace and security. .

The Government of Burkina Faso reaffirms its solidarity commitment alongside the Malian Transitional Government, the brotherly people of Mali, the peoples of the Sahel and all the fighters for freedom and human dignity in the collective struggle that we are waging for the preservation of life, dignity, freedom and living together in a rediscovered and shared peace for all Sahelians. »
