Burkina: 44 people killed in the town of Seytenga by terrorists (provisional report)

"The Governor of the Sahel Region deeply regrets to inform the population that on the night of Thursday April 06 to Friday April 07, 2023, Armed Terrorist Groups (GAT) broke into the villages of KOURAKOU and of TONDOBI, located about five (05) kilometers from the municipality of Seytenga, province of Séno.

The provisional assessment of this despicable and barbaric attack reports forty-four (44) civilians killed, including thirty-one (31) in KOURAKOU and thirteen (13) in TONDOBI, injuries and material damage recorded.

On behalf of the Government, the Governor of the Sahel Region presents his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.

In addition, the Governor reassures the populations that actions to stabilize the locality are underway after the offensive led by the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) which made it possible to put the Armed Terrorist Groups out of harm's way. who carried out the said attack.

Also, the Governor seizes the opportunity once again to invite the local populations to unite with the FDS and enlist as Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) in order to participate in the defense of their respective localities”, said Lieutenant-Colonel Rodolphe Sorgho, in a press release dated April 8, 2023.
