Baccalaureate exam: over 137,000 candidates in 2023 main session

Some 137,906 candidates will sit the 2023 baccalaureate exam, due on June 7-14. This includes 112,573 pupils from public schools (82% of candidates), 18,539 from private schools (13%) and 6,794 private candidates (5%), Education Minister Mohamed Ali Boughdiri Monday told a press conference. The 9th grade exam will be held on June 19-21 and results will be announced on July 4, he added. The number of candidates dropped by 263 to 32,548 this year against 32,811 last year. Meanwhile, the number of pupils sitting Grade 9 (technical schools) rose from 163 last year to 261 this year. Entrance exam for pilot middle schools is set for June 22-24 with 56,893 examinees against 57,378 last year. Results will be announced next July 7. Necessary measures were taken by the ministry to ensure the smooth running of national exams, Boughdiri further said.
