Armed thugs kill mother, baby in Wobulenzi night attack

Luweero: Police in Luweero are investigating circumstances under which suspected thugs shot dead a 28-year-old woman and her three-months-old baby in Nakasero zone in Wobulenzi Town Council on Tuesday.

According to Mr Topher Gimei, the Luweero District police CIID commander, the prime suspect is still at large and has since disappeared from his home in Wobulenzi Town.

A woman identified as Annet Nakaye died of gunshot wounds shortly after being shot several times while a baby identified as Joshua Kasozi died on spot.

“The body of the baby had several bullet wounds. We are still investigating the motive of the shooting,” Mr Gimei told the Daily Monitor yesterday.

Police preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects stormed the home of, a traditional healer in Nakasero Zone in Wobulenzi Town Council at 11pm on Monday.

The suspects reportedly cut through the roof and conducted a sustained shooting which lasted for about 10 minutes.

Although the healer survived his wife’s life was not spared.

The healer claimed that he had been receiving warning messages regarding his wife who had been previously been married in Wobulenzi Town.

Another woman identified as Prossy Namuwaya who had come for treatment, is nursing bullet wounds on her leg and neck.
