Zoom will be able to customize these models to perform better for a customer, based on their specific business needs.

As the next step in evolving the Zoom Contact Center portfolio, (Zoom Virtual Agent, Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Workforce Management), Zoom plans to incorporate Anthropic AI throughout its suite, improving end-user outcomes and enabling superior agent experiences. The Zoom Contact Center suite of solutions elevates the quality of customer experiences through better self-service and the ability to accurately understand customer intent. It intelligently guides customers to the best resolution, surfaces actionable insights that managers can use to coach their agents, and improves productivity by providing a unified communications and contact center experience. In the near future, Zoom will also use AI to provide the right resources to agents, so customers receive exceptional service experiences regardless of their reason for calling.

Announced today, Zoom Ventures has made an investment in Anthropic, strengthening the relationship between both companies. Anthropic’s research and development aims to create steerable, trustworthy, and responsible large-scale AI systems. Zoom did not disclose the amount of the investment.

Impulse Dynamics Announces 9,000th Patient Milestone Achieved With CCM® Therapy for Heart Failure

Momentum Continues as Depth of Clinical Experience Expands Worldwide

MARLTON, N.J., May 15, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Impulse Dynamics plc, a global medical device company dedicated to improving the lives of people with heart failure (HF), announced today a worldwide milestone achievement with the 9,000th patient receiving the Optimizer® system for the treatment of moderate HF. The Optimizer system is the only device approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States to deliver CCM therapy. Dr. Steven Gubin, a cardiologist and the President of Stern Cardiovascular, is part of the care team that completed the procedure at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, offering CCM therapy to a patient living with the debilitating effects of HF. This milestone highlights the momentum building globally for CCM therapy, using the Optimizer platform to improve quality of life in HF patients.

“I am excited to have a new therapy option for heart failure patients,” said Dr. Gubin, who has been practicing for 30 years. “One of my heart failure patients, Aubretta Bean, who is a cancer survivor, continued to have symptoms despite her compliance with guideline-directed medical therapy for heart failure. She let me know that she felt better almost immediately after receiving the implant and continues to improve daily. It has been extremely rewarding to see such improvement in her quality of life. Her lab work four weeks later showed her BNP (a common test to diagnose heart failure) decreased by 81%, which is consistent with improvement in her heart failure symptoms.”

“Before my CCM implant, I could not walk from one room to the other without gasping for air. It was like being underwater and trying to breathe through a straw,” said Aubretta Bean. “Heart failure changed my life so quickly. You might think housework is a chore, but when you can’t make your bed or do the dishes, you realize how quickly you would love to do that again. Now after my Optimizer implant, I can do all these things! I look forward to planning my days again and not just trying to get through them. I have eight grandkids and two great-grandkids that I can travel to see!”

Drs. Eric Johnson, David Lan, and Chris Ingelmo are all electrophysiologists at Stern Cardiovascular that have treated ten patients at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis with CCM therapy since March 2023. Dr. Chris Ingelmo completed the milestone procedure for the 9,000th patient treated with CCM therapy. The results have been encouraging, with significant improvement in patient symptoms.

“We are inspired by such stories highlighting the potential for clinicians to use CCM therapy to make a positive impact on HF patients’ lives,” said Simos Kedikoglou, MD, CEO of Impulse Dynamics. “The growing cadence of implants and the emergence of such inspiring stories reinforces our commitment to delivering meaningful advances in CCM technology and clinical data.”

CCM therapy is now available in 44 countries, and the technology has continued to advance based on the needs of patients and physicians. The latest generation of Impulse Dynamic’s proprietary Optimizer platform is the Optimizer Smart Mini, which offers a rechargeable battery with 20-year battery life and a smaller size designed to make the implant procedure faster and easier for patients and physicians.

About the Optimizer® and CCM® Therapy

The Optimizer Smart system delivers CCM therapy — the company’s proprietary technology — to the heart. CCM therapy has been designed by Impulse Dynamics to significantly improve the heart’s contraction, allowing more oxygen-rich blood to be pushed out through the body. CCM therapy is indicated to improve the 6-minute hall walk, quality of life, and functional status of NYHA Class III heart failure patients who remain symptomatic despite guideline-directed medical therapy, are not indicated for CRT, and have a left ventricular ejection fraction ranging from 25 to 45 percent.

CCM is the brand name for cardiac contractility modulation — the non-excitatory electrical pulses delivered by the implantable Optimizer device to improve heart contraction. CCM therapy sends unique electrical pulses to the heart cells during the absolute refractory period. In doing so, CCM helps the heart contract more forcibly. Impulse Dynamics has completed numerous clinical studies, including several randomized controlled trials, and CCM therapy has been published in more than 120 peer-reviewed journal articles.

About Impulse Dynamics

Impulse Dynamics is dedicated to advancing the treatment of heart failure for patients and the healthcare providers who care for them. The company pioneered its proprietary CCM therapy, which uses the Optimizer platform to improve quality of life in heart failure patients. CCM therapy is delivered through the Optimizer system, which includes an IPG implanted in a minimally invasive procedure and approved for commercial use in the United States and 44 countries worldwide. CCM therapy has proven safe and effective for heart failure patients with debilitating symptoms who otherwise have few effective options available to them. An appointment on the occasion of which Tunisia will be back to organising major multidisciplinary sports events.

The registration of athletes through the digital platform dedicated for the JAP is underway and is expected to end about ten days before the start of the JAP, the same source added.

"Nearly 65% of the expected participants (900) registered in only 1 week," he specified, indicating that the registration of athletes will continue until May 25.

The digital platform dedicated to registration and accreditation was created entirely by young Tunisian competences for the first time in the history of major sporting events organised by Tunisia.

Among the official delegations, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will be represented by eight of its senior executives, led by Director of Olympic Solidarity James Macleod.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organising Committee will also participate in the JAP with four of its members whose mission is to promote the Paris edition on the occasion of the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), due on June 2.

Parliament approves proposal on quotas for blocs and independent MPs

The members of the Assembly of the People's Representatives voted on Tuesday, by an absolute majority, a proposal to determine the modalities of calculation of the respective quotas for each parliamentary group and for the MPS who do not belong to the blocs within the structures of the parliament.

The proposal was adopted with 100 votes in favour, one against and no abstentions.

The proposal, submitted by MP Dhafer Sghiri and read out by ARP Vice President Anwar Marzouki, states that in order to obtain a seat in the Parliamentary Bureau, it is important to have 17 MPs, whether from parliamentary groups or independent MPs.

This is a literal application of the provisions of Article 32(1) of the Rules of Procedure, which takes this condition into account when allocating parliamentary quotas.

The plenary session, which began on Tuesday, was adjourned to allow Members to continue consultations on the issue of quotas within the structures of the legislative body.

Democratic Current plans to launch reform project for Tunisia (Conference)

New Secretary General of the Democratic Current party Nabil Hajji said that the party will propose a reform project which will be shared with Tunisian citizens and all political parties, adding that this political formation proceeded to revisions and explanations on its position to reaffirm its membership of the socio-democratic parties.

During a press conference on Tuesday in Tunis, devoted to the presentation of the results of the 3rd party congress held from April 28 to 30, Hajji explained that this project proposal meets the social demands of all Tunisians and finds its roots in the belief that "most Tunisians are currently unconvinced by democracy due to the lack of economic and social achievements".

According to Hajji, this reform project cannot thrive in an environment devoid of democracy and freedoms, "contrary to what some among the elite believe that autocracy alone is capable of saving the country and improve Tunisians' living conditions.»

Sahbi Atig goes on hunger strike (Conference)

Sahbi Atig, leader in Ennahdha movement, currently under arrest, has started a hunger strike for five days in protest against what he describes as "injustice".

According to his wife Zayneb Mraihi, the arrest of Sahbi Atig "has a political and purely revengeful character".

At a press conference on Tuesday in Tunis, organised with defence lawyer Mohsen Sahbani, Mraihi said that Atig's health was deteriorating. "He is being held in a cell with 13 individuals, some of whom are smokers, while he suffers from diabetes and respiratory difficulties," she said.

She also denied the information that Sahbi Atig had 1.5 million dinars stolen from his home.

Zeineb Mraihi also denied that her husband was organising his escape to Turkey during his arrest at the airport on May 6.

"Why not let him go free until we have evidence incriminating him?" she asked, calling on the Minister of Justice to open an investigation into the circumstances of his arrest and the property acquired by the family in order to dispel the rumours.

For his part, Mohsen Sahbani, a member of Atig's defence committee, said he met Atig in prison on Monday, who told him that "this case is fabricated and that he is convinced he can prove his innocence."

He added that Atig has decided to continue his hunger strike until he returns home, despite his deteriorating health.

The investigating judge at the Court of First Instance of Ariana had issued, on May 12, a detention warrant against Ennahdha leader Sahbi Atig and two other people.

He was arrested on May 6 for, in particular, "money laundering, illegal possession of currency and false testimony".

Burkina Faso in solidarity with Mali after serious UN accusations

Burkina Faso on Monday expressed its solidarity with Mali, whose authorities and "foreigners" are accused by the UN of having executed nearly 500 civilians in March 2022.

For Ouagadougou, this is a variable-geometry approach to human rights, because “the international community” observes a suspicious complacency in the face of the exactions of terrorists against martyred populations; but is moved when these thirsty for blood, wealth and power, are neutralized by freedom fighters.

"The Government of Burkina Faso is witness to the fierce struggle waged by the Transitional Government and the sovereign people of Mali against armed terrorist groups whose barbarity and perfidy are matched only by their morbid desire to sow chaos. by the massacre, the rape and the pillage of peaceful populations.

To stem the enterprise of terror and violence of these men without faith or law, the Malian Armed Forces successfully carried out a large-scale military operation in the locality of Moura in March 2022 which made it possible to inflict a crushing defeat on these disciples of the apocalypse by neutralizing dozens of terrorists.

The Government of Burkina Faso is surprised by the content of the "Report on the events in Moura from March 27 to 31, 2022 of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights made public on May 12, 2023 and expresses its incomprehension as to the conclusions of said report.

It expresses its solidarity with the Government and the brotherly people of Mali as well as with all the fighting Forces engaged in the fight against the forces of evil and unjustly taken to task for alleged allegations of violation of Human Rights.

The Government of Burkina Faso has never ceased to repeat that the despicable violence and the negation of all humanity are those perpetrated against the innocent people of the Sahel by terrorist hordes thirsty for blood, wealth and power, whose neutralization is so moving. the international community ".

He wonders about this approach to Human Rights with variable geometry which observes a suspicious complacency in the face of the abuses of these same terrorist groups and clears the community of nations of its duty of solidarity vis-à-vis the peoples of the Sahel, abused and martyred in the land of their ancestors when they simply aspire to live free, dignified and in peace.

Is it still useful to recall that at the origins of terrorism in the Sahel, there is mainly the destabilization of Libya carried out in 2011 with complete impunity and in defiance of international law with all the consequences that we know in terms of volatility of the security situation throughout the Sahelo-Saharan strip.

The duty of solidarity in question today is not alms but a question of responsibility in the atrocious suffering suffered by the Peoples of the Sahel and the descent into hell inflicted on millions of people who once lived in peace and security. .

The Government of Burkina Faso reaffirms its solidarity commitment alongside the Malian Transitional Government, the brotherly people of Mali, the peoples of the Sahel and all the fighters for freedom and human dignity in the collective struggle that we are waging for the preservation of life, dignity, freedom and living together in a rediscovered and shared peace for all Sahelians. »

Nahouri/CCP: The security situation on the menu of the debates

The members of the Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) of Nahouri discussed the security situation, during their first ordinary for the year 2023, on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in Pô, under the presidency of the High Commissioner, Auguste Kinda.

Since 2019, the province of Nahouri has been the target of terrorist groups and robberies in almost all the municipalities of the province.

It is with this in mind that the members of the Nahouri Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) initiated on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in Pô, their first ordinary session of the year 2023, through themes relating to the security crisis for a return to peace in Burkina Faso.

For the high commissioner of the province and president of the CCP, Auguste Kinda, the meetings are favorable spaces for exchanges and experiences between decentralized rural development actors, with a view to harmonizing daily actions in the field.

The head of monitoring and evaluation of the NGO, the guardian angels of nature (AGN), Aimé Ouédraogo presented the activities of his structure.

Mr. Ouédraogo noted that the activities of the NGO are, among other things, the strengthening of security bases, the sustainable and concerted management of the PONASI2 complex (Pô-Nazinga-Sissili).

The provincial director of the national police, Valentin Kaboré, for his part, took stock of the security situation in the province of Nahouri.

The Principal Treasurer, Augustin Yabré dwelt on the support mechanisms for efforts to secure the national territory relating to the Patriotic Support Funds (FSP).

According to Mr. Kaboré, the province's proximity to the sister republic of Ghana makes it difficult for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) to intervene, especially at the border.

According to the provincial director of the national police, these difficulties encourage smuggling and cross-border insecurity.

Valentin Kaboré maintained that the FDS work in symbiosis and benefit from good collaboration with the populations and local security initiatives.

The participants made a commitment during the exchanges, to be relays to sensitize the populations to the co-production of security.

They also called for the strengthening of consultation frameworks with Ghana with the involvement of customary and religious authorities.

The High Commissioner of Nahouri said he was satisfied with the exchanges, contributions and commitments made by the participants.

For him, their initiative shows that everyone is aware of the need for a return to peace in Burkina.

This first session was made possible thanks to the support of the NGO, the Guardian Angels of Nature (AGN).
