Video maid: Tortured baby admitted at Mulago hospital

The two year old toddler who was shown being tortured by a nanny in the video “Maid from Hell” that went viral and attracted nationwide and global condemnation has been admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Baby Arnella Kamanzi who in the video was shown being tortured by Jolly Tumuhirwe, the 22 year old nanny was on Thursday admitted at Mulago on the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura and the director CIID, Ms Grace Akullo.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Mr Enock Kusasira, the Mulago hospital spokesperson, two consultant doctors have been secured to examine the toddler.
“The baby was brought here for examinations and a number of tests will be done to establish whether she is in good health,” said Mr Kusasira, and added that “two doctors Helen Anyo, a consultant pediatrician and Dr Mwolozi, a senior consultant pediatrician will examine the baby for any symptoms that require medical attention.”

According to Mr Kusasira, the baby will be subjected to blood tests, among other tests to establish whether there are other internal injuries.
“The tests may take as long as a week or more. I cannot subject them to time,” he said.
The new development comes in light of the CCTV video that was circulated on social media of a maid torturing a baby in Naalya, Wakiso District.
The maid, Jolly Tumuhirwe, 22, has been charged with torture and remanded to Luzira prison. However, the Director of Public Prosecutions is mending the charge to include attempted murder.
