Utilising a 100x100ft plot for storeyed apartments

Now that Kampala Capital City Authority is banning one and two-roomed houses in the city, the best option is having apartments. This is how you can utilise a small piece of land to build a number of units.

The plan shown here is for a two-bedroomed apartment that can be replicated to get any number of the desired apartments the two-bedroomed houses are among the most common housing options that suites urban life.

To make the best use of the landlot, one needs to build going upwards to have as many floors as desired (but within the local authority requirements).

The option of building storeyed buildings is the most expensive, and the higher (more floors you opt for), the more expensive will be for building even the lower floors.

The plans shown here is one option among many that one can use to realise a housing project. It consists of an open plan kitchendining and sitting room, with a cloak room (toilet) at the entrance for visitors.

One can also have a washing machine and garbage can at the Kitchen porch. The artistic impression shows a block of three floorslevels with two apartments per floor, which is suitable for a plot of not less than 100x100ft.

Cutting Costs
Constructing a storeyed building is an expensive undertaking which also requires extra care the slightest mistake in planning can bring the whole project to a standstill. The simpler way (among many others) of reducing the construction cost is to have a design that doesn’t require many concrete pillarscolumns.

In this case, you can use hollow bricks and mark spans on upper floors to reduce on the weight of the building. It is important to note that though the materials required for storeyed buildings may seem expensive, they will save you a lot of money and time.It will make your building stronger to last for hundreds of years.
