UPDF lacks skill to run Naads – minister

Kalangala

Leaders in Kalangala District have asked government to elevate Ssese Farm School to the level of an institute to promote agriculture in the area.

The call was made by the farm school’s principal, Mr Innocent Abassa, during celebrations to mark the school’s Golden Jubilee last Sunday in Kalangala Town.

Mr Abassa said the school needs to expand to enhance student skills in order to deal with the current agriculture challenges.

Ssese Farm School is one of those facilities in Uganda that teach agricultural courses such as veterinary, animal and crop husbandry, among others. Prominent among its students, include Gen Katumba Wamala, the UPDF chief and Mr Fred Badda, the area MP. Mr Badda, who was present at the celebrations, suggested that the farm school should include among its courses, fish production, considering that it has become a key driver of Uganda’s economy.
