Uganda ladies finish sixth at AACT in Nairobi


Uganda finished just one place out of their intended top five with a team total of 70-over-par 496 as the curtains came down on the biennial Ladies All Africa Challenge Trophy at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya yesterday.

Flavia Namakula led the way for Team Uganda with a personal aggregate of 27-over-par 240 over three rounds to finish 11th overall in the stroke play showpiece. Debutante Katy Kabenge was 20th on the log with 46-over 259 whereas Harriet Kitaka (265) finished 23rd in the 17th-team continental meet.

Record champions South Africa (442) retained their title after edging hosts and Day One leaders Kenya (453) by 11 strokes. Tanzania (455), Zambia (472) and Zimbabwe (478) followed in that order. South Africa’s Michaela Fletcher scooped the individual award an aggregate of 220.
