Two New Bishops for CoU

The House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda has elected Rev Canon Samuel Gidudu as the fourth bishop of the North Mbale diocese and Venerable Canon Alfred Acur as the first bishop of West Lango diocese.

Archbishop Stanley Ntagali made the announcement at the conclusion of the House of Bishops meeting at Lweza Training and Conference Centre on July 17. The Alebtong-born Acur, 59, will be consecrated on October 19 at St Peter’s cathedral Aduku, the same day the new diocese of West Lango will be inaugurated. Acur was ordained canon in 1991.

Gidudu, 46, will be consecrated on November 16 at St Matthew’s cathedral, Buhugu, Sironko, also his home district. He was ordained reverend in March 2002. He will succeed the Rt Rev Daniel Gimadu.
